A little over a year ago this photo shoot with Ezra Miller by Playboy came out and inspired me greatly. A photo shoot with a man wearing clothing typically designated for women, but in a serious manner and looking glamorous and confident, was so beautiful to me and I put out a call for someone to model a similar concept for me. Tulsa area stand up comedian, burlesque emcee and performer Knob Sterling volunteered almost immediately. He was the perfect choice because he is already locally known for wearing "women's" clothing while performing, so he fit the bill as I wanted to create serious photos with a fashion feel, and I really wanted to avoid any type of satire element that might suggest cross dressing as comical, and I knew that he was already comfortable in a pair of pantyhose. I had also previously photographed him with the burlesque troupe Moonlight Minx Parade, so I already knew he was a professional when it came to the shoot process and was looking forward to creating these photos with him. I typically prefer to work with past clients when I need a model so I was glad he was up for posing for me! It took me almost a year to actually carve out some time for the shoot, but I'm so glad I did! Tom brought a variety of his own wardrobe pieces plus borrowed from the studio wardrobe to create some great looks! I was extremely happy with how these photos turned out and I'm definitely not opposed to doing more photos like this in the future. Although my photography typically specializes in women I am not opposed to creating great portraits of men, especially if you are wanting a more glamorous element to your photos. Not long after this shoot I sat down on a podcast co-hosted by Knob Sterling called Digital Intercourse to talk about my job. Click here to listen to my episode!
Enjoy some of my favorite photos from the shoot.
